R.M. of Humboldt declares state of emergency

HUMBOLDT, Sask. – The Rural Municipality of Humboldt is the latest Saskatchewan community to declare a state of emergency because of a flood threat.

Many communities, including Regina and Moose Jaw, have been putting up sandbags and other water barriers for several weeks.

The government’s Water Security Agency had warned that the entire southern half of the province would see spring run-off levels above or well-above normal.

It now says the worst of the flood threat has already passed in some areas.

As of yesterday morning, more than a dozen communities were under states of emergency because of flooding.
