Vacant house on Pritchard Avenue catches fire – again

A vacant home that burned late last year burned again on Tuesday afternoon.

A house at 679 Pritchard Ave. in the North End caught fire at about 4:30 p.m.

It appears the fire started in the garage and moved to the house, and also set a hydro pole on fire.

The home next door at 675 Pritchard Ave. also suffered damage, and a house on Manitoba Avenue was damaged as well.

One witness said they heard an explosion before the flames began. A firefighter on scene said the fire was likely arson, but there was no confirmation on what caused the blaze.

There appear to be no injuries. Damage is estimated at about $55,000, said firefighters at the scene.

The same house caught fire in December of 2018 and police at the time deemed the fire “suspicious.”
