Teen injured after shooting in Vaughan library parking lot, police searching for suspects

York Regional Police say they are searching for four suspects after a 16-year-old boy was shot outside a Vaughan library Monday afternoon.

Police told Global News emergency crews were called to Pierre Berton Resource Library, located on Rutherford Road just east of Islington Avenue, just before 1:45 p.m.

Police said that the boy was involved in an altercation in the parking lot of the library when he was shot. He sustained minor injuries.

Officers said the teen made his own way to hospital.

Emily Carr Secondary School, which is located close to the scene, was briefly put under hold and secure status.

Officers have released a suspect and vehicle description.

Police said they are looking for four males, one armed with a handgun. The vehicle is described as an older model silver car, possibly a Honda or a Toyota, with a sunroof.

Investigators are gathering surveillance footage and appealing for witnesses to come forward.
