Plan for the future of Hastings Park revealed

Neighbours living near Vancouver’s second-largest park aren’t happy with a proposal to change its governance. They packed a public meeting last night, fighting over the future of Hastings Park.

The space has been owned by the city since 2004, but a new plan could see much of the control handed over to the PNE board, which runs the annual exhibition on the park’s grounds.

Neighbours say the park shouldn’t be run by a business, and they’re worried about a potential loss in green space.

A final report will be delivered to city council later next month.
