A 24-year-old man is dead after falling more than 100 feet off a cliff on the Dundas Peak Trail.
Hamilton fire crews were called out for a “rope rescue” in the Spencer Gorge Conservation Area just after 11:00 p.m. on Friday night.
A friend of the victim told firefighters they had witnessed the fall and called 911.
“Firefighters entered the trail systems below the peak from several locations and began a search,” Deputy Fire Chief John Verbeek told Global News, “Firefighters discovered the patient after approximately 50 minutes of searching and the patient was pronounced on scene.”

Hamilton police spokesperson Jackie Penman told Global News the man was found dead in a wooded area.
“The male was at the location with a friend when he stood up, lost his balance and fell,” said Penman.
The incident has been deemed not suspicious by police and is currently not under investigation.
