Semi-truck rollover, spilled lumber partially closes Highway 16 west of Edmonton

The driver of a semi-truck was taken to hospital after a collision with farm equipment west of Edmonton on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said a semi-truck in the eastbound lanes of Highway 16 rolled east of Jennifer Heil Way and a load of lumber spilled all over the highway.

Police said the semi was attempting to pass a slow-moving pickup truck hauling farm equipment when it collided with the equipment and rolled.

Traffic in the eastbound lanes of Highway 16 was rerouted for some time Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the driver’s injuries were not life-threatening. He remained in hospital Thursday, according to RCMP.

The collision remains under investigation.
