Warm weather hits Regina: golfers rejoice

Paisley Golf Oasis was a busy place on Saturday, considering there was still mounds of snow on the ground.

Mick Panko was the first one there when doors opened at 10 a.m. A golf enthusiast, he didn’t want to let a little snow get in the way of his tee-off.

“We’ve been playing indoor golf for the last month or so… so it’s nice to be outside and hearing the birds chirp,” he said as he practiced his swings on the driving range. The golf course itself is still closed.

Last year, he was already golfing by now.

“I think maybe mother nature’s not a golf fan. Father time I guess maybe plays too much golf. Mother nature wanted to slow things down this spring,” Panko said.

“Last year March 16th and it was all dry, so it’s our latest opening ever this year, last year was our earliest,” said Bill Paisley, owner of Paisley Golf Oasis.

He said it will still be another couple weeks until the golf course opens.
