Highway 5 closed north of Kamloops due to rockslide

Highway 5 is closed in both directions near Barriere, B.C. in the Thompson-Nicola region due to a rockslide.

According to DriveBC, the rock slide occurred along the Southern Yellowhead Highway between Pinegrove Road and Clough Road several kilometres south of Barriere in the area known as Fish Trap.

An assessment is in progress and no detour is available. DriveBC says it will provide an update at 2:00 p.m.

There’s no word on when crews might have the material cleared and the road back open to traffic.
