She suffered from multiple system atrophy, a degenerative disorder.
The Winnipeg woman said in one of her final messages that she wasn’t afraid, but wished she could have died in Canada.
Griffiths chose to travel to a European clinic for a doctor-assisted suicide before the disorder could overwhelm her body completely.
She said in an email to The Canadian Press that she spent four wonderful days with her family in Zurich – quote – “sharing memories, giggles and tears” as she prepared for her appointment today.
