An Okanagan man could be facing charges after he allegedly pointed a gun at his neighbour over a dispute concerning garbage cans.
RCMP cruisers blocked off Kelowna’s Birch Avenue and Christleton Avenue around 8 a.m. Officers were seen with guns drawn.

Insp. Paul MacDougall with the Kelowna RCMP says police responded to a report of a man with a firearm.
Darian Repchuk said she had written a note for her neighbours asking them not to leave their garbage cans in front of her house. She left it taped to the top of their bins on garbage day.
“It blocks our parking, as well as we’ve continuously had to pick up their garbage because it never makes it in the garbage,” she said.
She said she then got an alarming call from her husband Friday morning.
“He was getting ready for work, and he said, ‘Honey, I just got a gun pointed at my head’,” Repchuk said.
She rushed home from work to find her home surrounded by police cars.
“This has been blown way out of proportion. A nice conversation, an argument, to get it all dealt with. But having a shotgun pulled?” Repchuk shook her head in disbelief.
The roads remained blocked off for more than an hour as RCMP dealt with the situation.
Police said a 24-year-old man is in custody and potentially faces charges that include pointing a firearm, uttering threats and careless use of a firearm.
“I want him to get charged. I want him to go to court. I want him gone,” Repchuk said.
