No injuries were reported and damage was minor after an accidental fire in northeast Calgary on Monday.
Crews responded to billowing smoke from an attached garage fire on Castlefall Road N.E. at 10:50 a.m.
The Calgary Fire Department (CFD) said crews quickly knocked down the flames, which limited smoke damage to the garage. Two vehicles parked inside sustained heat and smoke damage, the CFD said.
Three people left the home before firefighters arrived and called 911.
Investigators said the fire was accidental and caused by a hot plate left unattended. The hot plate was near combustibles in the garage, which was ignited from the building heat, the CFD said.
