An erratic cyclist has led Hamilton police to drugs.

Shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday, Hamilton police noticed a man riding his bicycle unsafely through the intersection of James and Wilson streets, narrowly escaping collisions with several passing vehicles.

Police say when they attempted to stop the cyclist, he took off into oncoming traffic, darting in and out of commercial properties, before he crashed into a curb.

A 35-year-old man was arrested.

Police say he was in possession of methamphetamine and was also bound by a court order.

The accused is now facing charges including possession of a controlled substance, failing to stop, and failing to comply with probation.
