Toronto police have arrested a teacher in connection with the sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl over a year ago.
Police said that in March 2017, a 36-year-old man drove the young girl to his home to discuss school issues.
Officers said that during the visit, the accused allegedly sexually assaulted her.
On Wednesday, police charged Toronto resident Brian Ross with sexual assault and sexual interference.
Police said Ross was a teacher with the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB), where he taught at Marshall McLuhan Catholic School from 2006 to 2016 and Senator O’Connor College School from 2016 to 2019.
The TCDSB issued a statement saying officials aren’t able to comment further about the case since it’s before the court. However, it said the safety and well-being of students “remains our top priority.” Officials said Ross has been suspended with pay.
