2 arrested after car goes wrong way on downtown Calgary sidewalk, hitting signs, parked cars

Two people were arrested Monday morning after Calgary police say a vehicle went the wrong way down a sidewalk in the downtown core.

According to investigators, the car took out street signs and a parking meter on 9 Avenue S.E. and hit other parked vehicles. Officers also said it appeared the vehicle struck a police truck.

Two left lanes of northbound MacLeod Trail were closed as of noon Monday while crews were working to clean up the scene of the collision.

EMS were also called to the scene however no injuries were reported.

Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the crash.

They said the vehicle was not stolen.
