Durham police use helicopter surveillance to track man fleeing police from Oshawa to Scarborough

A man from Pickering, Ont., is facing numerous charges after he sped away from police early Friday. Durham police said the driver refused to stop and instead sped onto Highway 401. Police gave up their chase but deployed a helicopter to keep an eye on the vehicle and then took down the suspect on foot – Mar 1, 2019

OSHAWA, Ont. – A man from Pickering, Ont., is facing numerous charges after he sped away from police early Friday.

Officers in Oshawa, Ont., were trying to pull a motorist over for weaving in and out of the lanes.

They say the driver refused to stop and instead sped onto Highway 401.

Police gave up their chase but deployed a helicopter to keep an eye on the vehicle.

In east Toronto, the driver stopped and ran off, leaving two passengers behind.

A 24-year-old suspect was soon arrested and charged with fleeing police, racing, driving while suspended and a drug offence.
