Lethbridge’s Chinook Country Tourist Association has decided to shut down its visitor centre in south Lethbridge.
The association lost about 40 per cent of its revenue after Lethbridge city council pulled funding and placed the money in Tourism Lethbridge’s downtown location.
Executive director Nikolaus Wyslouzil said the council’s decision and the closing of the centre is a tough pill to swallow.
“It’s a democratic process. That’s what they wanted. That’s what they felt was best for the city so I have to sit back and agree with that. It is sad,” Wyslouzil said.

The centre is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and usually sees up to 15,000 people come through its doors annually.
Wyslouzil said the centre will be open until the end of March.
