3 men charged in 4 drug overdose deaths in Saskatoon

Three men have been charged in connection with four deaths stemming from a rash of overdoses in March 2018.

Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) announced Feb. 21 the three were each charged with four counts of manslaughter, four counts of negligence causing death, and three counts of negligence causing bodily harm.

At the time of the deaths, police were appealing to those who purchased cocaine from a dealer who went by the name “Lil Joe” or “Joe Bro.”

SPS said the cocaine might have been laced with fentanyl and therefore lethal.

The three men were arrested shortly after the fatal overdoses on March 10, 2018.

The arrests and a search of a home in the 100-block of Pawlychenko Lane yielded $14,210 cash, 11.16 grams of cocaine/fentanyl, 149.88 grams of total cocaine, and 31.13 grams of heroin. A gun and bullets were also seized.

All three men are expected to appear in Saskatoon provincial court the morning of Feb. 22.
