The first long weekend of 2019 is finally here as many moms and dads will be taking Monday off to spend time with the kids on Family Day.

Several businesses in Guelph will be closing their doors on the holiday, but some will stay open.

There will also be plenty of service reductions as well.

What follows is a list of what residents can expect to be open and closed on Family Day.

Food and drink

Most grocery stores are closed on Feb. 18, including Metro, Zehrs and Longos, but Market Fresh at 10 Paisley Rd. will be open.

All LCBO and Beer Store locations are closed for the day.

Royal City Brewing will open between 12 p.m. and 7 p.m and Wellington Brewery will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Shopping

Stone Road Mall will be closed on Monday.

All Rexall locations will be open and the Shoppers Drug Mart on Eramosa Road will remain open for 24 hours.

Shoppers should call independent businesses for their store hours.

Banks will also be closed on Family Day.

City-run facilities and services

Waste pickup will not happen on Monday and will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week.

The Victoria Road Recreation Centre and the West End Community Centre will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for special Family Day programming.

The Centennial Arena will be open between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. for private rentals, but the pool will be closed.

The Evergreen Seniors Community Centre will also be closed.

City Hall offices will be closed, along with parks and forestry office, the waste resource innovation centre and the operations office.

All branches of the Guelph Public Library will be closed.

The Guelph Civic Museum will open between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., but McCrae House will be closed.

Market Square ice rink will be open all day, weather permitting.

Public Transit

Guelph Transit buses will operate on a staggered 60-minute service schedule from 9:15 a.m. to 6:45 p.m.

Mobility service will also run from 9:15 a.m. to 6:45 p.m.

GO Transit will run on a Saturday schedule, but riders should check their specific schedule for more information.
