Guelph police say one of their own officers has been charged following a rear-end collision on Thursday morning.
According to police, a cruiser ran into a grey Honda Odyssey on Gordon Street near Dean Avenue at around 11:30 a.m.
Police said the 74-year-old driver of the van suffered minor injuries to his neck and head, but did not need medical attention.
There was about $3,000 in damage to cruiser’s front end, while the van had about $4,000 in damage, according to a news release.
Police said the officer was charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
It’s not known if the officer was responding to a call when the collision happened. Police also didn’t say if the province’s Special Investigations Unit was notified.
