A gas leak on Crescent Street Tuesday afternoon led to the closure of several streets in the downtown core.
Firefighters were called to the intersection of Sainte-Catherine and Crescent streets around 12 p.m.

Energir, formerly known as Gaz Metro, said crews were on site, trying to cap the leak, but warned of possible power cuts.
Montreal police spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant said Sherbrooke Street and de Maisonneuve Boulevard were closed between de la Montagne and Bishop streets for an undetermined period of time.
“It will likely affect the rush hour,” he said.
The leak was successfully capped at around 5:30 p.m. and the streets gradually re-opened to traffic.
Energir said crews were staying behind to conduct repair work on the broken pipe.
