Medicine Hat man charged in connection with B.C. woman’s death in southern Alberta

A 36-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder after a 24-year-old woman was found dead in southern Alberta last week.

June Rose, of Burnaby, B.C., was found dead at a residence in Bassano, Alta., on Jan. 22.

RCMP said Monday her death has been ruled a homicide, but would not release the cause of her death as it was still under investigation.

Chase Leland Hehr, of Medicine Hat, was charged with second-degree murder. He was taken into custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Brooks on Jan. 30.

RCMP would not say whether the man and woman knew each other.

In 2007, Hehr was sentenced to five years in jail for manslaughter in connection with the death of Collin Laframboise. Hehr was also handed a 10-year firearms ban.

Bassano is located approximately 140 kilometres southeast of Calgary.
