The Special Investigations Unit is looking for potential witnesses to an alleged incident that occurred in late December involving an Ottawa police officer that sent a man to hospital.
According to the SIU, at around 8 a.m. on Dec. 31, the officer was in his cruiser when he observed a dispute between a man and a woman in the area of Booth and Wellington streets.
The officer exited his cruiser and, soon after, became involved in an “interaction” with the 26-year-old man, the SIU said. Additional officers arrived, and the man was apprehended.
The man was subsequently transported to hospital for treatment of a serious injury.
The SIU is asking anyone who may have information on this incident to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529, ext. 9035. The unit is also urging anyone who may have any video evidence related to this incident to upload that video to the SIU website.
