Details were scarce Wednesday.

Cst. Rob Carver said few details were being released pending contact with the victim’s family.

“I can tell you that an adult male was shot in the 400 block of Nairn and has succumbed to the injury.”

“I believe the officers know who he is, but we don’t release any details until next of kin have been notified.”

One resident said he noticed at least six police vehicles in the area around 7 a.m. Later that evening, they said at least five police vehicles were still in the area, including an identification unit.

Carver confirmed the call was received at 6 a.m. New Year’s Day.
