Thousands of people are expected to turn out for North America’s oldest Vaisakhi parade Saturday in Vancouver.
The 10-kilometre parade, which has about 20 floats, starts at the Ross StreetTemple at 11 a.m.

The parade winds between Main and Ross streets, east to west, and along Southeast Marine Drive to East 49th Avenue north to south.
Several major roads will be closed until about 5 p.m.
The popular event celebrates the birth of the Sikh religion. A second Vaisakhi parade will be held next weekend in Surrey.
