FORT MCMURRAY, Alta. – Two men from northern Alberta are facing charges of animal cruelty against several sled dogs.

Mounties received a neglect complaint last month about a group of dogs in a lot outside Fort McMurray.

They say they found the animals living in substandard conditions and some were under weight and suffering from various health problems.

Six dogs were seized and placed in the care of the SPCA.

The two men, ages 25 and 59, face various charges under the Animal Protection Act.

The alleged offences include failing to provide adequate care, food and water and protection from injurious cold.
