WINNIPEG – Manitoba RCMP are asking for the public’s help after several mutilated dogs were found in a rural district outside Winnipeg.

Police said a veterinarian had to euthanize one dog after it was found on March 4 in Rhineland, about 100 kilometres southwest of Winnipeg, suffering from a burn through its fur and thorax muscles.

Another dog owned by the same person had also been treated for two deep cuts to its underside a few days before. That dog survived.

The owner reported that the dogs had been running loose, but both returned home after they’d been attacked.

Again on March 4, police said an individual walking in the area found two small animals that had been skinned and their tails removed.

Later in the month, a dog was brought to the humane society after it was discovered with twine wrapped around it with a jug of rocks attached.

Anyone with information is asked to call Altona RCMP at 204-324-6970 or local police.
