Icy conditions make for dangerous driving around Southern Saskatchewan

REGINA – The winter that won’t end continues to make life miserable for Saskatchewan drivers.

R-C-M-P say Highway #11 was impassable because of a jack-knifed semi near Lumsden earlier Friday morning and emergency vehicles were having trouble getting to the semi because of the icy road conditions.

A police vehicle and an ambulance slid off the road, another R-C-M-P vehicle had been rear-ended and gravel trucks couldn’t get through because of the blocked highway.

There are no reports of injuries.

Emergency crews have also had to deal with a jack-knifed semi east of Dafoe on Highway 16, and travel advisories are out for a number of other roads in southern and central Saskatchewan.
