Calgary is top destination for U-Haul moves

TORONTO — Calgary is the top destination city in Canada, according to the 2012 U-Haul National Migration Trend Report — bumping Toronto from the top spot for the first time in a decade.

According to data compiled by the truck rental company, Toronto fell to second place last year, followed by Montreal, Edmonton and Ottawa.

The rankings reflect destinations for movers renting a truck for a one-way trip in Canada.

Vancouver, London, Kitchener, Mississauga and Hamilton rounded out the top 10.

Ontario remains home to the most popular destination cities , accounting for nearly half of the top 25, followed by British Columbia.

Three destinations on the list are in the Greater Toronto Area.

South of the border, Houston was the top destination for one-way U-Haul rentals in 2012 for the fourth year in a row, followed by Orlando, Chicago, Las Vegas and San Antonio.
