Toronto police say a 24-year-old woman is in life-threatening condition after she was struck in a hit-and-run Wednesday evening that was caught on camera.
Police said the collision happened before 8 p.m. at Kennedy and Danforth roads.
In video obtained by Global News, a van could be seen travelling westbound on Danforth Road. But what’s not visible on the video is the woman being dragged underneath the vehicle. She eventually comes free before the suspect drove off.
Approximately 12 cars served to avoid the woman as she lay on the road before someone stopped to help her.
A spokesperson for Toronto Paramedics told Global News the pedestrian sustained “very serious” leg injuries and was taken to St. Michael’s Hospital.
As of Thursday, the woman remained in critical condition.
A friend of the woman and her husband said he got worried when she didn’t arrive home from work at around 8 p.m. The friend said her husband found the officers at the intersection while he was out looking for her.
Police said officers are looking for the driver of an older brown minivan.
