CALGARY- Ever find yourself racing towards the check-in desk at the airport, gasping for air as you throw your baggage onto the weigh-scale? Well, new Air Canada regulations mean you now have even less time to spare before your next flight.

Starting April 10, the cut-off time for check-in and baggage drop for domestic flights is increasing to 45 minutes before flight time, up from 30 minutes. The change applies to all Air Canada and Air Canada Express flights in the country, with the exception of those departing from Toronto Billy Bishop Airport which remains at 20 minutes.

The new requirements align with WestJet standards, which also require passengers to check-in at least 45 minutes before departure time.

Travellers are encouraged to check-in for their flights online, up to 24 hours before departure.
