Man found unresponsive in northeast Edmonton Friday was fatally stabbed

Edmonton police are investigating the city’s 25th homicide of the year after a man was found near Rundle Park on Friday evening.

Police were called to an area near 108 Avenue and 31 Street at around 6:40 p.m. to reports of an assault.

When officers arrived, they found a 56-year-old man unresponsive, who was then transported to hospital. He later died.

An autopsy was done and confirmed on Tuesday that Christopher Michael Antoniuk, 56, died as a result of stab wounds.

Homicide Section determined his death was a homicide.

Edmonton police are asking anyone with information about Antoniuk’s death to contact them at 780-423-4567.
