Surrey to become the first city in Canada to try an online forum for public hearings

It’s an ongoing problem for most city councils, especially when they’re trying to get the public’s input on controversial issues.

A lot of people just can’t get to council meetings or public hearings, and so council ends up mostly hearing from the same, small group of citizens over and over again.

The new initiative called “City Speak” aims to give everyone a say in an online forum.
