Blue Jays open highly-anticipated season at home

TORONTO – Fans of the Toronto Blue Jays have been counting down the days.

Canada’s lone Major League Baseball team will kick off its 2013 campaign tonight against the Cleveland Indians at Rogers Centre.

Excitement about this year’s team has been building for weeks.

General manager Alex Anthopoulos pulled off some major trades to strengthen the roster during a busy off-season.

Toronto landed all-star shortstop Jose Reyes and pitchers Josh Johnson and Mark Buehrle in a mega-trade with the Miami Marlins.

The Blue Jays also acquired knuckleballer R.A. Dickey — last year’s National League Cy Young Award winner — in a deal with the New York Mets.
