It’s no April Fools’ joke – the Vancouver Canucks have purchased a farm team from the St. Louis Blues.
The team announced today they have agreed to purchase the Peoria Rivermen, subject to approval by the AHL.

“This is an exciting opportunity for the Canucks,” said Canucks Sports & Entertainment Owner and Chairman, Francesco Aquilini. “The purchase of the Peoria franchise allows us to take an important step and assume full control of our minor league development program.”
The team said no further comments will be forthcoming on the transaction.
