Kingston police say three people were involved in the alleged murder that happened at the Kozy Inn on Sept. 5.
On Thursday, police arrested two more suspects, a 41-year-old woman and 21-year-old man. They face charges of first-degree murder, and conspiracy to commit murder.
Aaron Lewis, 19, from the Ottawa area was taken into custody at the time of the murder. He was originally charged with second-degree murder, that has now been changed to first-degree.
“The three individuals involved were all present in the room at the time of the murder,” says Det.-Sgt. Jay Finn with the Kingston police.
Finn says the three suspects and the victim all knew each other. The victim was married to the woman, while the other suspect is the brother of the man already in custody.
After collecting evidence and taking a number of statements, police said they have reason to believe the murder was pre-meditated.
“Well, there was an incident that occurred in that apartment,” Finn says. “We uncovered information that there was some planning involved.”
Police were called to the Kozy Inn on Princess Street at about 1 a.m. Wednesday to investigate a report of shots being fired.
Police say a rifle was used in the incident, leaving a 39-year-old man dead. Frontenac Paramedics attempted to treat the victim but he succumbed to his injuries a short time later in hospital.

Det. Sgt. Finn says a rifle was used in the incident. He also said the victim and the accused were known to each other and police.
The victim has been identified as Jean-Guy Vincent. He was a resident of the Kozy Inn.
This would be Kingston’s first murder of 2018.
