Man in construction garb robs pair of banks in Waterloo region

Police have released images of a man they are looking to speak with in connection with a pair of bank robberies in the Waterloo region over the weekend.

Police released images on Saturday from a robbery which took place at the CIBC branch on King Street North in Waterloo.

Police say that a man in construction gear entered the CIBC branch on King Street North in Waterloo at 8:30 a.m. He had a weapon and demanded money.

A similar robbery occurred a day earlier at the CIBC on Strasburg Road in Kitchener.

A man wearing a construction helmet walked into the branch at around 3:30 p.m. and demanded money. In this case, no one reported seeing a weapon.

“Our detectives are looking into the possibility that they are connected,” Waterloo police spokesperson Cheri Greeno said.
