A section of the busiest street in Peterborough, Ont., will be closed next week for railway reconstruction.

The City of Peterborough says Lansdowne Street West will be closed from High Street to Western Avenue for three days while Canadian Pacific Railway reconstructs an existing railway crossing.

The section of road is scheduled to be closed from 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 22 until 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 24.

Detour routes will be signed and access to businesses will remain open, the city stated.

The eastbound detour route will take drivers south on The Parkway, east on The Queensway, along Borden Avenue up to High Street and back onto Lansdowne Street.

An alternative route will take motorists north on Goodfellow Road, east on Clonsilla Avenue onto Sherbrooke Street and south on Monaghan Road.

The westbound detour route travels south on High Street and Borden Avenue, west on The Queensway and north on The Parkway.
