Organizers have changed a policy and are now allowing people to bring their own bottled water into this year’s Saskatoon Ex due to hot weather.
Normal policy states substances in unsealed containers are not allowed during the fair at Prairieland Park.
Due to the forecast, however, organizers have decided that sealed or unsealed containers containing water will be allowed through security in 2018.
Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Saskatoon as well as a large portion of the province.
Thursday saw the beginning of the prolonged heat wave for southern Saskatchewan. Daytime maximum temperatures ranged from near 30 degrees in the northern grainbelt to the mid-30s near the U.S. border.
The ridge of high pressure over the area continues to strengthen and even hotter temperatures are expected on Friday and most of the weekend. This extreme heat should abate after the Ex ends on Sunday.

During the hot temperatures, organizers are encouraging people to wear sunscreen and hats, seek out shaded areas, rest in air-conditioned building, and stay hydrated.
