Thought it was hot in the Okanagan last week? Wait until Wednesday.
A heat wave is starting to scorch the Valley, and will do so until Saturday, when clouds and showers are expected to appear. Before then, however, the mercury is going to continuously climb.
For today, Tuesday, the expected high is 35 C. On Wednesday, things start heating up, with a projected high of 38 C. Thursday will reach 41 C, with Friday hitting 37 C.
For Saturday, the projected high will be 26 C, with a 40 per cent chance of showers. Sunday will be 31 C, with next Monday through Thursday averaging between 32 and 34 C.
In related news, an air quality statement was also issued for entire Okanagan due to wildfire smoke.
According to Environment Canada, wildfire smoke may affect your health. People with pre-existing health conditions, the elderly, infants, children and sensitive individuals are more likely to experience health effects from smoke exposure.
For the Central and South Okanagan, the provincial air quality health index for Tuesday is listed as low (3), though it is projected to rise on Wednesday to moderate (4).
For the North Okanagan, it is already rated as moderate (4) and will stay the same for Wednesday.

South of the border, in Death Valley, Calif., the projected highs for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are 46 C.
Meanwhile, for a blast of chilly weather, Vostok Station in Antarctica is reporting weather of -51 C with a real feel of -72 C.
