Canadian singer-songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk performed last night in the Okanagan as part of the summer concert series at Fitzpatrick Family Vineyards in Peachland.
The concert took place on the winery’s crush deck overlooking the lake: Just Kreviazuk and her piano playing to an intimate crowd of Okanagan fans.
The Juno Award winner says she loves playing small venues accompanied solely by her piano.
“I can stop and start and do everything I want to without any restrictions,” Kreviazuk said. “But it’s also intimidating because I don’t have anyone to hide behind.”
Kreviazuk is thrilled to be back in the Okanagan.
Hailing from Winnipeg, Kreviazuk’s career skyrocketed in 1997 with her debut album Under These Rocks and Stones.

The album featured Kreviazuk’s hit song Surrounded, a ballad written for her close friend who took his life. Her lyrics, raw and emotional, captured the hearts of fans worldwide.
Two decades later, Kreviazuk is still making music. In addition to collaborating with artists like Drake, Christina Aguilera and Carrie Underwood, the mother of three also recorded her sixth studio album Hard Sail in 2016. She also has two new musical ventures in the works.

“I have a new solo album in the can,” Kreviazuk said. “And then I have an album in the can with my husband, so I’m trying to figure out how to drop them both without it interfering with the other.”
Kreviazuk has been married to Our Lady Peace frontman Raine Maida for almost two decades. Collaborating with her husband is a dream come true for the artist.
“It’s been very organic,” Kreviazuk said. “I think it’s something we both really want because it’s a rejuvenation of who we are as artists, and it allows us to explore other thoughts and perspectives and other areas of our music palette.”
Chantal Kreviazuk’s album Hard Sail is available on iTunes or Amazon.
