Winnipeg Jets Hellebuyck, Copp, Connor to play in charity game

Three members of the Winnipeg Jets will be suiting up for a charity hockey game later this month.

Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck and forwards Andrew Copp and Kyle Connor will participate in a charity game on Aug. 26 in memory of Jim Johansson in Plymouth, Michigan.

Johansson served as USA Hockey’s Assistant Executive Director and as the General Manager of the 2018 U.S. Olympic men’s hockey team before he died at the age of 53 on Jan. 21, 2018.

Hockey USA created the Jim Johansson legacy fund, and money raised at the game will go towards the Ellie Johansson College Fund for the assistance of Jim’s daughter and wife.

The charity game will be Hellebuyck’s first since signing his six-year, $37 million contract with the Jets in the offseason.

Kyle Connor and Andrew Copp each have one season remaining on their current deals.

Jacob Trouba is the only Michigan native on the Jets roster that will not participate in the event.
