“People in the community know the suspect and you may have seen him in the area before and after the homicide,” Sgt. Wade McDonald said July 4.

“[Yurkiw] was a private person and an extremely hard worker. He worked at a local hotel as a cleaner and a DJ,” Sgt. McDonald said.

“His family wants and deserves justice.”

Police said a DNA profile was also recovered from the crime scene.

That evidence, along with information received on a suspect, led to a warrant, Const. Tammy Skrabek said Thursday.
