An 18-year-old man is in Laval police custody after an early morning stabbing in Laval.
Sgt. Geneviève Major with Laval police told Global News the assault happened outside a Petro-Canada service station on Curé-Labelle Boulevard at around 4 a.m. on Sunday.
A 20-year-old man was assaulted and seriously injured.

Police say his injuries were consistent with stab wounds, but have yet to determine the type of weapon used in the assault.
Major said the victim was taken to hospital in critical condition where he underwent surgery.
He is now in stable condition and will meet with investigators as soon as his condition allows.

The motive of the attack has yet to be determined.
Laval police have arrested one of three suspects wanted in connection with the assault. It is unclear what role the teenager played in the attack.
He is being detained for questioning.
Investigators with the major crimes unit are at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
