Police expect to lay charges after chasing stolen vehicle through Halifax

Halifax Regional Police continue to search for a man after officers chased a stolen vehicle through Halifax on Saturday night.

Police say that at 10:40 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle speeding on Bayers Road.

The police officer was able to catch up to the vehicle at a red light, searched the plate and learned that it had been reported stolen.

Although the officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop the vehicle refused to stop and took off outbound on Bayers Road.

The vehicle was pursued by officers as it exited at Duke Street in Bedford, N.S. before they discontinued the pursuit when the vehicle reached Rocky Lake Drive.

Police found the vehicle unoccupied some time later on Birch Street. A search of the area did not locate anyone.

However, investigators have since been able to identify the man they believe was driving the vehicle.

Halifax police say charges are expected once the man is located and arrested.
