Two men from Kingston, Ont. were charged after an argument escalated, leading one to allegedly threaten the other with a sword.
On July 18, police say a 26-year-old man went to a 30-year-old man’s home to retrieve some property. When the 26-year-old arrived, police say the 30-year-old was in his car with another man, and an argument ensued. The argument apparently became physical, and police say at some point, the 30-year-old brandished a sword at the 26-year-old man, who responded in turn by allegedly punching out the passenger window of the car.
Police say witnesses called in reporting a fight and a man wielding a sword.
When police arrived, they say they only found the 26-year-old, who was bleeding from a hand injury. Soon, the 30-year-old reappeared and began yelling at the 26-year-old in front of the officers.
Both men were then arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were held to attend bail hearings. The sword was retrieved from where the 30-year-old had allegedly hidden it.
The 26-year-old Kingston man was charged with mischief. The 30-year-old Kingston man was charged with possession of a weapon.
