A Wisconsin cyclist is lucky to be alive after tumbling through a gap in a drawbridge while the bridge was being raised.
Security cameras captured the hair-raising moment at the Racine Street Bridge in Menasha, Wis., on the evening of July 4.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, a 37-year-old woman was riding home after watching the Fourth of July fireworks when she came upon the bridge just after 10:30 p.m.

The bridge was in the process of rising over the Menasha Channel to allow boat traffic to pass through when the woman arrived.
Seemingly ignoring the lowered security arms and flashing warning lights – the barriers literally striking her as she passes them — the woman proceeds onto the bridge before falling into a seam.
“She went through them, she ended up being unstable, went into the gap between the drawbridge and the rest of the bridge,” Menasha Police Department Deputy Chief Brett Halderson told WBAY News in Wisconsin.
Pedestrians quickly rushed to the woman’s aid, pulling both her and her bike out from between the cracks of the bridge before either could be crushed.
The woman was cited for failure to obey a traffic signal, and taken to hospital for facial injuries sustained during her fall.
