Pedestrian dies after being hit by truck in LaSalle

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a truck in LaSalle Tuesday.

Montreal police explain the 50-year-old man was hit as the truck turned onto Newman Boulevard from Terrasse Newman around 6 p.m.

Police spokesperson Audrey-Anne Picard tells Global News the truck driver did not see the pedestrian.

The man was taken to hospital in critical condition; he was pronounced dead overnight.

The truck driver, a 69-year-old man, was treated for shock.

Police confirmed it is still too early to tell if speed was a factor.
