The Peterborough Humane Society is looking for some help in sprucing up its facility on Lansdowne Street East.
Susan Dunkley of the human society says the yard out back where they exercise their dogs needs to be cleaned up to make it safer. They will do a little pruning, a little painting and a bit of construction.
“We need to build some shelves for storage because people share their crates with us and we always don’t need them right now but will need them at some point in time,” Dunkley says.
The cleanup bee is scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m. Dunkley says they want to encourage people not just to come out and help but also to drop in and find out a little bit more about the society.
“We are trying really hard to have our doors open, so that you don’t just come here, get your dog, and go home. We want people to come and visit. We want people to come visit the cats. We’re working very hard in building our volunteer program so that we have more volunteers. We have over 200 volunteers we’ve interviewed and have helping us,” Dunkley says.
Anyone wishing to help out with the cleanup is asked to call the Peterborough Humane Society at (705) 745-7676.
