Apartment fire on Kildare East sends one to hospital in critical condition

An apartment fire on Kildare Avenue East on Monday morning has left one person in critical condition.

Winnipeg emergency personnel were called to the fire at about 7:40 a.m. in the 100-block of Kildare Avenue East. One person was found in the apartment and taken to hospital in critical condition.

Other people in the apartment were able to escape and were not hurt. They were temporarily sheltered in a transit bus, said a city spokesperson.

There was no immediate word on the cause, nor was a damage estimate available. There was no information on the age or gender of the person taken to hospital.
