A couple of Saskatoon boys are gearing up for their biggest competition yet.
Carter Lucas, 15, and Josh Edwards, 16, are part of the six-person national team heading to Spain for the World Junior Water Ski Championships in August.
The boys will be competing in three events: slalom, tricks and jump.
Their coach, Ryan Dodd, said this will be the biggest milestone in their life.
“If they take it right and they enjoy it and have a good time I think it’ll be the turning point for them where, maybe they do this forever.”
Dodd, who is a pro skier himself, is currently ranked number one in the world and holds the world record for longest jump at 254 feet, which he set last year on Canada Day.
Edwards recently beat his own personal best, jumping 164 feet at Dodd’s home site in Florida.
The World Junior Water Ski Championships are from August 2 to 5.
